Why should I work with a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

Unlike general “nutritionists,” Registered Dietitians (RD) are certified healthcare professionals trained to provide medical nutrition therapy. While internet advice offers general guidelines, an RD translates complex science into a plan tailored to your specific biology.

Working with us means you get:

  • Expertise, Not Trends: Evidence-based guidance to treat medical conditions, manage injuries, and optimize athletic performance.
  • Total Customization: A nutrition strategy calculated for your exact metabolism, training load, and lifestyle—no cookie-cutter meal plans.
  • Sustainable Results: We focus on behavioural psychology and habit formation to help you build a healthy relationship with food that lasts.
  • Data-Driven Adjustments: We can analyze lab work and performance metrics to identify nutrient deficiencies and fine-tune your intake.

What happens in an Initial Assessment?

No judgment. No “food police.” Just support.

  • Prerequisites: You create a food journal documenting a few days of foods that you ate. This can be done through using an app we provide, or by uploading photos of all the meals/snacks/drinks within a day.
  • The Setup:
    • By video call, a calendar invite will be sent with the link. You can join at the time of your appointment.
    • By phone call, the provided number will be called at the time of your appointment.
  • The Chat: We will discuss your health history, current eating habits, and relationship with food.
  • The Plan: We end with 2-3 practical, realistic goals. We don’t hand you a generic meal plan and say “good luck.”

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

  • For Us? No. You can book directly with us anytime.
  • For Your Insurance? Likely, no. Some insurance plans require a doctor’s note before they will reimburse you.
  • Action: Call your insurance provider and ask: “Do I need a physician referral to claim Registered Dietitian expenses?”

What is the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?

  • “Registered Dietitian” (RD) is a protected legal title in Canada and is the only title covered by insurance benefits. All our practitioners are Registered Dietitians.
  • A nutritionist does not have a governing body which allows anyone (including your neighbour!) to call themself a nutritionist here in British Columbia.
  • You can learn more about how all our dietitians practice by referring to their profile.

Where can you treat me?

  • We can support anyone anywhere in the world; however, we are licensed in British Columbia, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
  • Most Canadian extended health benefit plans will cover dietitians within Canada. Connect with your insurance provider if you are unsure.

Cancellation Policy

  • Life happens! You can reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your appointment for free.
  • Cancellations under 24 hours are charged the full fee, as that time was reserved just for you.
  • Note: Insurance companies generally do not reimburse late cancellation fees
